The perfect bag

I saw this at the SoCo shopping mall today and thought it was so cute! We should all get them 🙂

How did we end up in book club jail?

I mean, when bottomless mimosas are on the menu, someone is bound to get arrested…. amiright?

We had a great brunch/lunch this Sunday at El Adobe in San Juan Capistrano…. we were on our naughtiest behavior so we were escorted underground to the old prison after brunch! They’ve turned it into an awesome little private dining room/wine cellar. Is it really a punishment if they lock you up with the booze?

Anyways, back to the books. Liz’s pick of Madame Bovary was a successful read for most! We gave it an overall rating of “I needed 3.2 glasses of wine to make it through this book!” (Mostly it was 1’s from the literary nerds or 5’s from those who don’t get down with the classics.)

Kristen is pumped we picked her read!

Kristen is pumped we picked her read!

So the theme we picked for this month’s suggestions were “books being turned into movies in 2015” and Kristen’s pick was the big winner!

Our next read will be

A Hologram for the King by Dave Eggers

Buy it here and then watch the trailer for the film starring Tom Hanks, being released November 2015!

Next book club meeting will be Sunday May 31st at 10:00 am for brunch at Home of the World’s BEST Mai Tai Wind & Sea in Dana Point! No theme for the next read… just suggest something you’ve been itching to check out. For a list of all the other books that were suggested (or movies you will probably want to see this year), see below.

  • The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry (movie starring Vanessa Redgrave and Eric Bana)
  • In the Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick (with Chris Hemsworth… ummm, twist my arm)
  • Into the Forest by Jean Hegland (staring Ellen Page & Evan Rachel Wood)
  • Serena by Ron Rash (ANOTHER awesome Bradley Cooper/Jennifer Lawrence movie)
